Attended a neighbor’s wedding recently as a guest (which has not happened for quite some time hehe) and its quite interesting to watch the official photographer work. This particular one, I think had a team of 4-5 photographers and they even set up strobes and umbrellas on the “pelamin” which I found quite hilarious.
I’m sure (maybe) that the pictures must have turned out awesome but it does raise one issue (to me at least)… the end product yes, would be for the satisfaction of the client (ie. the bride n groom) but at a wedding, the guests would be the ones who would need to be satisfied and I’m just wondering how would one pakcik or makcik feel if they came to a wedding only to find the “pelamin” to be obstructed by a bunch of strobes and umbrellas hmmm…. I would probably be quite annoyed.
So I guess, being a wedding photographer, it does require a lot of common sense and self consideration of what your surroundings are. Indeed you are paid to give excellent photographs but at the end of the day, we are still living in a much traditional culture with conservative elders normally in attendance at weddings, who always require our respect
Just my two cents

Thanks for the feedbacks! And looks like most people still like the layout and color scheme, so we’re sticking to it for now
Although we’ve had internal discussions that maybe we should change the way we work during shoots or in particular put more emphasis on what kind of jobs that we want to shoot. Personally I just love shooting solemnizations as all the emotional factors involved just gives me a high, while receptions can be a bit predictable
Apart from weddings, we have ventured into portraiture and creative lighting via some plain do-it-yourself trial and errors as well as a lot of reading up on the net. Some local talents have excellent classes as well on lighting and we hope to attend the great ones soon to have a much better grip on lighting creativity. Its amazing what the digital world has done to transform conventional photography just like how yours truly started out back in the days of the celluloid (hehe)

Our plans to start our own premises have been put on hold as we decided to re-assess the decision and see if it would be more feasible to do so or not. A prominent partner has offered to share a location and we are welcoming that option at the moment. This could at the end of the day work best for Studio Eight - so wonder what the clientele thinks?

Defying security guard warnings, the pre-wedding still had to go on! Due to the fact that Ely the bride-to-be loving Pavilion so much, we pressed on with the shoot and managed to get a lot of nice shots albeit running again n again from the guards!

Ipoh is certainly one of those cities in Malaysia with such a peaceful environment. Although passed by numerous times, I personally never explored much of this quaint town. With its rolling hills as a backdrop, our afternoon wedding shoot there was cooled down with a short shower, and thats when things looked even more peaceful. On top of that, our client’s home in Sunway City was such a beautiful place coupled with streams around the compound which was connected to a small lake - indeed, this town would be such an ideal place to retire and relax your life away

Our site is finally at full running speed. We’ve been getting a number of confirmed clients already for 2009 so looks pretty good so far! We were at Awana Kijal recently for a shoot so that was fun - like a working holiday
I know I enjoyed it!

Welcome to the new site, if you’ve seen our brochures, this new brand design is to sync with any future publishings under Studio Eight in future.
The welcome splash page should be up in a few days - still tinkering on some glitches. Also we’ve had loads of connection problems to the site and its all starting to come together right now. Hopefully all will be 100% in the next week or so.
Some galleries are also due for uploading which will also be done very soon. Apart from that, we’ve had quite a number of jobs which have kept us on our toes, not forgetting as well confirmed jobs in the pipeline for 2009 as well.
Do arrange for a meeting with us should you have an event already planned
We’d be more than happy to try and accommodate things for you!
We apologize for the downtime all this while. Feel free to click on the galleries to browse our past works
